Happy New Year Everyone!

I’m feeling very happy… It’s a new year, it’s a new decade and I just finally fixed this blog after 4 months!

I encountered an error message regarding headers and spent hours over months searching for a fix, tried most of them  and failed again and again. My RSS didn’t work, I couldn’t login and aweber stopped sending updates. For a blog on blogging it was a really poor show, but I just couldn’t fix it!

Finally I followed the advice on the page above, to paste over a new wp-config.php  file and then return the data to what it should be. This worked! It was a white space problem – it was just “invisible” white space, because I know I deleted it again and again just as instructed and if you have no idea what I’m talking about, then how lucky are you!

In the time I have spent applying band-aids to try and fix it, I have deleted plugins, deleted themes, re-installed twice and altered this and that so I had a mess to clean up.  I figured it was time to get a new theme and do a bit of blog renovating.

So now I’m using the Mandigo theme which I love and have used on other blogs. It is an easy to figure out (but rich in function) theme for intermediate bloggers. What I like most is it’s easy to add a header to, it has the 4 widget areas and it has a variety of colour schemes.

I also am trying out some new plugins and updating the options in the admin area so that the blog runs well but mostly automatically without asking too much time of me, as I have much less time to “play” than I used to. So look out for some plugin posts shortly as I explain what I am using and why.

As I have been checking the results of these new plugin installations I have revisited some old posts and I did one about blog value pictures you can add to your blog, so I thought I’d check in and see how I am doing.

How Cool Is That! My blog is worth $40 grand!

40,430

How much money is your blog worth?

The first result was awesome – “How Cool Is That” I thought! My blog is worth $40 grand! I’ve won the lotto!

It’s totally not true of course and visiting the second link was a big disappointment, but not really unexpected because this blog has been out of action for so long.

The truth is actually far closer to

OUCH!

Still hey, it’s worth something eh? Let’s see if we can bring it back to it’s former glory in the next few months.

Anyway – The cat is sitting on the keyboard telling me it’s tea time and my son just wandered in and asked what’s for tea so I’ll have to wait a bit longer yet to get up to speed. Looking forward to talking to you this year. I’m back!

Julie

Diligently we write our blog articles and provide our readers with good quality information but nana’s apple pies, it is not nana that gets the attention but the warm and delicious smell of buttery baking pastry. Headlines need to be as irresistable as the smell of frying bacon, or in season the perfume of honeysuckle you scent walking past a house.

I was fully reminded of this fact when I received a fwd fwd email that I am herwith forwarding to my blog. Sorry to take a crack at all you guys out there and I’m sure that someone will transgender it and get their own back soon!  I admit from a feminine perspective that reading it was irresistable. Couched in marketing or advertising speak, it takes a toungue in cheek look at men and as a by product at the headlines we choose to present our tutorials or other products.

From this little gem of copywriting we can garner a lot of information. Double speak is fine to use – people who get it will laugh and people who don’t will believe you. Either way it gets people’s attention, it’s all true! AND it makes you laugh. You don’t need purple cows or aliens to get attention – all you need to do is tell the truth (about something that’s not politically correct or is taboo).

NB. This is a FWD FWD email I received from a girlfriend. As such it is probably subject to copyright somewhere and if there is someone out there who owns the copyright I will be more than happy to link to the original or remove this if you prefer. Unfortunately the forwarded message has lost the original link or I swera I would have asked before using it.

Graphic Designers can offer Christmas Graphic Packs

People who are graphically skilled could make some quick cash streams by creating Christmas graphics that blog owners and site designers can quickly add to their sites to dress them up in December for Christmas.

Small Christmas pictures that can be easily added to a blog are a good idea, especially if you can create a dozen to 24 or so to add a new one to each post.

Could you design some special and unique Christmas cards people or businesses could send, especially ones that a businesses could email out to subscribers easily, with text that can be modified to suit the particular business.

Don’t just concentrate on Santa either. Christmas is a religious holiday and Christians want to remember the birth of baby jesus so images of three wise men and Mary and Joseph, angels and shephers and stars, are just as important as a partridge in a pear tree and a rolling round Santa with a huge sack of presents, snow filled houses with golden windows and Christmas trees understacked with gift boxes.

Half the World never sees snow at Christmas and scenes without snow are scarce. Nativity scenes are also not as easy to get hold of these days. Search the public domain sites for old fashioned Christmas scenes or see if you have some old Christmas photos of your own that can be modified to suit.

Christmas Baubles are always popular and candles for some reason are also very Christmassy!

Think about benefiting from the seo of blog posting using Christmas search phrases. Set up a new blog with a special Christmas theme and make sure you have the seo plugin installed . Do some research as to what people are searching for and start posting articles related to what they want.

You can use this Christmas blog to link to other niche blogs and sites. You can link to Christmas gifts with affiliate links. You can create a 12 days of Christmas gift giving spree for your subscribers and have the post delivered via autoresponder to gain subscribers. Create a best Christmas gifts at Amazon Blog. Best Christmas videos on you tube blog. Best Christmas stories blog. A Christmas Carol lyrics blog.

Again these are just a few seed ideas.

It’s tempting to go for a higher price range at Christmas but the small report is a good seller at any time and creating some quick cash streams by selling some small reports related to Christmas is a good idea.

Small report authors could write some new small reports with

Delicious Christmas Recipes

A printable Christmas Carol Book

Reprints of public domain Christmas poems and stories

How To  books ( such as

“How to cope with relatives you don’t like for yet another christmas do!”

“How to Make Homemade Gifts for ChristmasPresents”

“How to Help Children Make Christmas Decorations”

“How to Make Crackers with great jokes and trinkets in them”

(Or Bangers, Bon Bons  – or whatever your country calls them)

These small Christmas reports can be personally sold on your own niche sites, or given away. Or you could sell a package of them as PLR or MRR for other marketers to use. If you know how to make them rebrandable you can offer them to affiliate program managers or membership sites.

You’ll have better ideas I’m sure for titles, just another quick cash stream seed.

Plant it and see what grows from your own imagination.
