We all know that Wordpress is the best blogging platform but few of us use Wordpress as a content management system and this is largely because we don’t know how.

Essentially it means that you use pages rather than posts so your site looks more like a website and less like a blog. You can still use free themes for this but you have to brave and adventurous and start to look at the code that makes Wordpress work.

The how to it instructions are all at the Wordpress Codex which is searchable and fully documented but first you need to know what you have to do to make this happen. I recently came across a book that tells you how to do this and  it’s a good basic guide if you want to know how.

You can get  Wordpress Secrets, if you’ve always wondered how and are now ready to find out. There is very little information in ebook form available on how to do this and although this doesn’t have as much information as I’d like, it has enough to get you started and the codex will fill in the rest. It’s not expensive, and may be just what you need to get you to be more hands on with Wordpress and start to make your theme appear as you want it to.

What this enables you to do is to change sidebars and have full width pages for sales pages if you choose, without the clutter of sidebars to distract people from the message. It’s perfect for mini sites for products.

You can submit the same article to multiple ezines and article databases but either you write lots of articles or submit the same one. Duplicate content is very easy for a search engine to read and there are doubts that in time that articles with the exact same text will continue to benefit you.

If you do submit the same article, the first one that is indexed is the one that will most likely show. If you submit it to one,  or have the article on your site already, other article directories may refuse to publish the article.

The answer to this is to spin your articles. You take one article and use a thesaurus to alter the actual wording of each sentence enough to make the article unique. Its suggested that 30% unique is considered enough.

This is the best Article Spinner I have ever used.

It helps you to rewrite from any seed article, or by typing in directly,  an article that can be spun with tags. You can then use this with submission software to submit unique articles to article directories, websites and blogs. Or you can spin any number of unique articles out using the software, and save them to paste in or submit the articles to sites manually.

It is a time consuming process to create a spinnable article. The spinners I have tried before were weighty. They took half an hour to scan a document, then there was no fast way to keep track of choices for one word or phrase. It was quicker to not use one at all. One free article spinner that I installed stuffed up my computer so bad when I uninstalled it, that I had to get a technician in to fix up Internet Explorer.

This is because the spinner uses an online thesaurus to offer word substitutions and therefore messes with your browser.

Installation is a bit tricky, it needs a specific version of the net framework and I have to use the article spinner on a second computer, as my main computer needs a different version of this for the  XSitePro web editor software . Even with this headache it was worth the time and effort spent installing it to be able to use such a valuable tool. It’s – no reservations whatever – THE best article spinner. I don’t get really enthusiastic about many things but this is a tool worth having that will save you so much time if you do this type of marketing.

This article spinner has  a database of word substitutions that is so much better than a thesaurus. It still has a few limitations  – like generally not giving options when words are plurals, but the database can be added to by yourself as you work and the writer provides database updates that are being improved all the time which is – simply awesome. And its so fast, I can’t believe how fast it is!

There are paid submission programs to use spun articles with, including SENuke which is very powerful SEO software, that not only submits a spinnable article but also bookmarks and submits videos,  but until you get more experience learning how to write and submit  spinnable articles, you don’t want to be paying monthly while you learn. SENuke has a high learning curve don’t sign up until you have products set up to promote and time to learn how to use it.

Why not just sign up for the Free Traffic System and use their spinner and submission service. When you are better and faster at spinning articles, go pro with them (or any other tool) that you have to pay for monthly.

You will be aware if you have read other posts on my blog that I have a lot of respect for what Yaro Starek teaches but I am not always aware of all the side projects he has, especially those for beginners as I don’t need that information so much now.

While I was reading the Clickbank blog yesterday though, I came across a post suggesting Clickbank publishers to use a blog for their pitch page and I was curious enough to take a look. What I discovered is a great site from Gideon Shalwick and Yaro Starek with free videos you can watch that lead you through the process of getting a Wordpress blog set up for the first time.

The videos are high quality and answer many questions that someone new to the process will ask.

How to Set Up Feedburner To Handle Email Subscriptions To Your Blog.

The last video is about using feedburner to handle email subscriptions to your blog. Wordpress comes ready made with a RSS feed and people who know what these are, have no difficulty using the icon in the address bar to add a blogs RSS feed to their reader.

For those people who haven’t explored RSS however, its a murky area they are perhaps unsure of,  so head on over there if that’s you – because RSS is a valuable tool for promoting and bringing the message of your posts to your readers with a minimum of fuss.

The ability to get updates from your blog is the best type of automatic delivery you can have. It can be set to deliver after each post, or weekly or monthly, whatever suits you best. For people who don’t have time to actively promote to a list, broadcasting your RSS feed via email to subscribers is a steady reminder to them of your blogs presence and an invitation to come back and read some more good information from you.

You can do this via aweber using the blog broadcast feature or you can use feedburner. I have not yet used feedburner so I was interested to see what you can do with it . It was impressively easy and it has some cool features that will make your message look professional, clean and modern.

Using a text widget you can enter the subscribe code for RSS readers or email subscriptions easily to your Wordpress blog’s sidebar. You can also customize the message they receive on subscription easily so they know that everything happened correctly. Last, within the interface of feedburner, you can get statistics about your subscribers.

So if RSS is something you have heard about but have not thought about, now might be the time to learn to make the most of it. Also if you are new to Wordpress and need information on how to set up your own hosted version of it the former videos will be very useful to you.

If you are missing your editor icons after updating Wordpress, you might want to check out the following thread. I use Firefox and had this problem. I updated a second time and then closed Firefox and cleared the cache, and refreshed the blog post and this did resolve the issue for me.

If this doesn’t work for you the until the problem is fixed you might want to download an alternative editor as suggested until it is.

I have had a few issues recently with Firefox. Another is that Firefox crashes when I try to upload an image. It has been suggested that gears may the issue there. Disabling gears should make it work properly again, but I have not yet tried that fix myself. Hopefully they’ll sort it all out soon and we can go back to taking Wordpress for granted.
